New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Thursday inaugurated a new 400-bed tower at Max Smart Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, marking another major capacity expansion by Max Healthcare in the National Capital Region.
With the addition, Max Saket’s total bed capacity will rise to approximately 1,200 beds, making it the largest private hospital in Delhi by bed capacity, according to the company. The hospital offers tertiary and quaternary care across more than 22 specialties.
The new tower aims to expand access to advanced, technology-enabled care for patients from Delhi-NCR and beyond, while addressing the growing demand for specialised healthcare.
The facility is equipped with advanced medical technologies, including the Da Vinci Xi Surgical Robot and Mako Total Knee Replacement Robot, supporting precision-driven and minimally invasive procedures across specialties.
The inauguration was attended by Rekha Gupta, Delhi Chief Minister as Guest of Honour.
“This state-of-the-art new facility brings together cutting-edge technology, world-class infrastructure and exceptional Indian clinical talent to deliver advanced, high-quality patient care to people from India and across the globe,” said Abhay Soi, Chairman and Managing Director, Max Healthcare Institute Ltd.
According to Soi, the expansion also contributes to the broader objective of building a stronger and more inclusive healthcare ecosystem in India.
The Saket expansion comes amid an active phase of network expansion for Max Healthcare. On Tuesday, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced on social media that the healthcare major plans to establish an 800-bed multi-speciality hospital in Gujarat, with plans for further expansion across Gandhinagar and Surat.
Max Healthcare currently operates 21 healthcare facilities with more than 6,100 beds, with a presence across Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra and Odisha. The company has set a target of reaching 10,000 beds over the next three to four years.
Max said Saket is a key part of its integrated healthcare and medical education ecosystem, supported by more than 42,000 employees. As part of its healthcare access initiatives, the company provided free treatment worth Rs.244 crore to 3.60 lakh patients last year.
Through the Max Institute of Medical Sciences, the organisation has also supported 1.62 lakh students through higher education, training and professional learning programmes to date.
In the last financial year, Max Healthcare said it treated more than 40 lakh patients from over 800 cities and 180 countries, including patients seeking specialised and advanced medical care.
The latest expansion further strengthens the group’s presence in Delhi-NCR as it scales up its hospital network, adds high-end clinical capacity and invests in technology-enabled tertiary and quaternary care.
