Romania’s Aviation Landscape Reshaped
This wave of new flights increases Wizz Air’s Romanian network to 204 routes from 13 airports, linking 75 destinations across 25 countries.
Bucharest Goes Dual-Airport
From October 2025, Wizz Air will boost its presence at Băneasa Airport (Aurel Vlaicu) with a second aircraft. Nine existing routes from Otopeni will be relocated or shared with Băneasa. These include exclusive operations from Băneasa to Basel, Frankfurt Hahn, Memmingen, Nice, and Athens. Four other routes—Milan Bergamo, Barcelona, Brussels-Charleroi, and Turin—will operate from both airports. Simultaneously, six new Otopeni routes will launch to Brindisi, Cologne, Gdańsk, Porto, Pescara, and Bratislava. Tickets start from RON 79.
Brașov Airport Accelerates Into Prominence
Brașov‑Ghimbav International Airport, which began operations in June 2023 and is the first new airport in Romania built in fifty years, is critical to regional accessibility. In Q1 2025, passenger numbers more than doubled compared to Q1 2024, reaching 56,897—a leap that pushed the airport to ninth in national rankings.
Wizz Air contributes six new routes and added frequencies to two existing ones. That activity is projected to bring total annual traffic toward 400,000 passengers.
