MSC Cruises recently celebrated an important milestone, marking 30 years of operation in Argentina. The journey began with the opening of its first office in Buenos Aires in 1995, and the company has since built a solid reputation as one of the leading cruise operators in South America. In late May, MSC Cruises hosted a special celebratory event in Buenos Aires to reflect on the growth and achievements over the past three decades.
The relationship between MSC Cruises and Argentina has been one of mutual growth, with the company establishing a strong connection with Argentine travelers. Over the years, MSC Cruises has shared unforgettable experiences with its passengers, offering voyages to some of the most beautiful and exciting destinations in South America and beyond. Throughout this time, the company has also gained the trust and loyalty of the region’s travel market, bolstered by a reputation for high-quality service and a passion for cruising.
MSC Cruises’ history in Argentina can be traced back to 2004 when the company launched its first domestic cruise program, following the establishment of its office in the country ten years earlier. This expansion into the Argentine market helped MSC Cruises solidify its presence in South America, and since then, the company has regularly deployed a range of ships from Buenos Aires, including some iconic vessels. The MSC Monterey, Melody, and Rhapsody were among the first ships to operate in the region, laying the foundation for MSC’s ongoing success in Argentina.
As MSC Cruises has grown in South America, newer and more luxurious ships have joined the lineup. Vessels such as the MSC Opera, MSC Musica, MSC Sinfonia, and MSC Splendida have become regular visitors to Buenos Aires, welcoming an increasing number of guests to Argentina for cruises across the South American continent.
Looking forward, MSC Cruises is committed to expanding its offerings in Argentina with the introduction of two exciting ships for the 2025-2026 season. The MSC Fantasia, a ship that can accommodate up to 3,300 guests, will make its debut in Buenos Aires. This stunning vessel will operate a series of 14 cruises ranging from eight to ten nights, taking passengers to some of the most popular destinations in Brazil and Uruguay. Ports of call for these cruises include Rio de Janeiro, Ilhabela, Búzios, and Ilha Grande. The MSC Fantasia will sail from Buenos Aires from November 2025 through March 2026, offering a fantastic opportunity for travelers to experience these exotic locales while enjoying the comfort and luxury of one of MSC’s most impressive ships.
Alongside the MSC Fantasia, the MSC Preziosa will also make regular calls to Buenos Aires as part of its seven-night cruises in the region. These cruises will visit various destinations in Brazil and Uruguay, with scheduled stops in Punta del Este, Santos, Itajaí, and Balneário Camboriú. The MSC Preziosa will sail between January and March 2026, providing Argentine travelers with more options to explore the stunning coastal destinations of South America.
MSC Cruises’ dedication to expanding its services in Argentina is a key element of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its foothold in the South American cruise market. The company’s fleet will also include three additional ships operating in the region during the 2025-2026 season: the MSC Seaview, MSC Armonia, and MSC Lirica. These ships will offer a variety of itineraries designed to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of travelers, whether they’re seeking a quick getaway or a longer voyage.
MSC Cruises’ long-standing success in Argentina highlights its ability to adapt to the evolving needs of the region’s travelers while maintaining a commitment to excellence in service. With its diverse fleet of ships, MSC Cruises continues to offer unforgettable cruise experiences in South America, and the company’s planned deployments for the 2025-2026 season promise even greater opportunities for Argentine and international travelers alike.
As MSC Cruises moves into its next chapter in Argentina, the company looks forward to continuing its legacy of offering world-class cruises that provide memorable experiences for every guest. With its wide range of itineraries, luxurious ships, and unparalleled service, MSC Cruises remains one of the top choices for travelers seeking a premium cruising experience in South America.
