The Starlight Plaza: A New Las Vegas Icon
Opening at The Mob Museum on October 10, The Starlight Plaza offers a fresh and vibrant take on Las Vegas’ classic Golden Age. This outdoor seasonal lounge and event space is a true homage to the entertainment capital’s rich history, featuring a thoughtfully curated beverage menu by the Museum’s Senior Director of Food and Beverage, Clint Thoman. The lounge serves as a chic, immersive environment, bringing together handcrafted cocktails, live music, and vintage Vegas-inspired artwork. The Starlight Plaza creates a space where both locals and tourists can step back in time and experience the charm of midcentury Las Vegas.
Signature Cocktails at The Starlight Plaza
The Starlight Plaza’s cocktail menu is a nod to the Golden Age of Las Vegas, featuring classic concoctions alongside innovative new creations. Among the highlights are The Starlight, a refreshing vodka and hibiscus tea blend, and The Headliner, a gin-based drink with elderflower and snow pea syrup. Bet on Red, a tequila-based cocktail with amaro, vermouth, and watermelon, is also a standout. For those who prefer non-alcoholic beverages, The N/A Starlight and Sky Ranch Spritz provide equally delightful options. Additionally, the Golden Age Menu, available for a limited time, offers classic cocktails for just $5 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., evoking the spirit of vintage Vegas with every sip.
Live Entertainment Adds to the Atmosphere
One of the most exciting aspects of The Starlight Plaza is its live entertainment, which draws inspiration from Las Vegas’ legendary performers like the Rat Pack, Liberace, and Elvis Presley. Every other Thursday, the Plaza will feature Latin jazz performances from 6 to 9 p.m., while select weekends will bring in live bands, adding an authentic touch to the vintage vibe. The October entertainment calendar is packed with exciting acts, including Jennifer Keith, Coco On The Rocks, and Michael Ross Nugent. Special themed events, such as the Sip & Smoke Cigar Night on October 30, also promise a memorable experience, combining Latin jazz with fine cigars and crafted cocktails.
Celebrate Halloween at The Starlight Plaza
Halloween takes on a unique flavour at The Starlight Plaza, where visitors can enjoy a hauntingly fun evening on October 31. The Mob Museum’s Underground speakeasy and Starlight Plaza will host a special Halloween event, complete with craft cocktails, a costume contest, and live music. Mimi & The Rivieras will perform at The Starlight Plaza, while Coco & The Sidecars play at The Underground. This themed event promises to be a thrilling experience, blending the best of vintage Vegas style with modern-day entertainment. Halloween at The Mob Museum is an unmissable event for anyone seeking a memorable, lively celebration.
Artwork Celebrating Las Vegas Legends
The Starlight Plaza will also showcase eight large-scale murals by renowned Las Vegas artist Derek Douglas, known as SNIPT. His mixed-media works pay tribute to the iconic entertainers, gamblers, showgirls, and landmarks that shaped Las Vegas into the entertainment hub it is today. These stunning murals will be displayed throughout The Starlight Plaza, capturing the essence of Las Vegas’ past and adding an artistic flair to the venue. From the Rat Pack to Fremont Street’s Glitter Gulch, these murals highlight the rich cultural and historical tapestry that defines Las Vegas.
Opening Hours and Venue Details
The Starlight Plaza will be open Thursday through Sunday, from noon to 9 p.m. until it transitions into an adults-only venue at 5 p.m. Each day offers a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere for visitors of all ages, with the venue turning into a lively 21+ destination in the evening. The lounge’s breezeblock motifs, midcentury colour palettes, and nostalgic signage from YESCO make the space a visual feast, enhancing the vintage Vegas experience.
