Greater Miami and Miami Beach recently hosted a select group of Canadian travel advisors, showcasing the region’s diverse tourism offerings. The familiarization (FAM) trip, held from May 5 to May 8, 2025, was organized by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), the Sunny Isles Beach Tourism Council, and Air Canada. Eight high-ranking travel agents from Toronto and Montreal flew in on direct Air Canada flights to experience firsthand the exciting transformations taking place in Greater Miami’s tourism scene, all while celebrating Global Travel Advisor Day in this dynamic destination.

As Miami continues to evolve with new attractions and developments slated for the coming years, Canadian visitors can look forward to even greater connectivity, thanks to Air Canada’s direct flights, and an inviting atmosphere filled with adventure, sunshine, and value year-round.

The action-packed itinerary began with a lavish lunch at 1-800-LUCKY, a trendy spot in Wynwood known for its vibrant Asian fusion menu. Afterward, the group journeyed to Sunny Isles Beach, where they checked in at the Residence Inn, a newly opened property ideally situated near Miami’s prime shopping destinations, such as Aventura Mall and Bal Harbour Shops.

Throughout the trip, the travel advisors had the chance to explore a number of newly renovated and standout properties. These included the JW Marriott Turnberry, the Courtyard Coconut Grove, The Standard Spa Miami Beach, Nautilus Sonesta, and UMA House—each offering a unique experience for potential visitors.

Evenings were filled with immersive cultural experiences, including a Cinco de Mayo celebration at El Tropico and a tango dinner show at Conventillo, both of which highlighted Miami’s multicultural vibrancy. These events provided a taste of the energy and creativity that define Miami’s cultural landscape.

Before concluding their visit, the group took a tour of PortMiami, the world’s largest cruise terminal with the capacity to accommodate up to 36,000 passengers at a time, and the Miami Worldcenter, Florida’s largest retail and entertainment complex. These locations further emphasized the scale and scope of Miami’s tourism infrastructure and offerings.

Despite the challenges posed by global trade tensions under President Donald Trump’s administration, Canada remains a crucial market for Miami’s tourism sector. According to the GMCVB, hotel bookings from Canada have surged by eight percent year-over-year for the first half of 2025, underscoring the importance of Canadian visitors to the local economy.

“From the introduction of new hotels and distinctive culinary experiences to family-friendly attractions and world-class cruise terminal tours at PortMiami, Greater Miami continues to strengthen its appeal as a premier travel destination heading into 2026,” stated the GMCVB in a recent press release.

For travelers planning a visit to Miami in the coming months, there are several exciting promotions to take advantage of. The city’s Museum & Attractions Month offers discounts at various museums and galleries across Miami, running through May 31st. Additionally, Miami Spa Month kicks off from July 1 to August 31, providing relaxing spa deals, while Miami Spice Restaurant Month offers culinary discounts from August 1 through September 30.
